Totem Pokémon are rare types of Pokémon, and a different type of Bosses.
A Totem Pokémon can be easily spotted, being way bigger than its non-totem equivalent and covered by a yellow-ish aura.
They are always level 100 and have 5x more HP than their normal version when in Battle.
Totems are meant to be middle/end-game foes, so stay away from them until you have a good team!

They cannot be captured in any way.

Totems can spawn in in every Biome in Overworld, with the only limitation of Land.
They won't depend on their Base form spawn Biomes.
(i.e. Even if a Mew can only spawn in Grove, Forest Hills, Taiga Hills, Rainforest and Origin Island, a Totem Mew will not be limited to those Biomes)

Totems are the only source of Type Z-Crystals.

List of Totems

Totem Pokémon can only spawn on Land, you will never find a Totem in Water or Air.
There is a total of 52 Totem Pokémon as of latest Version:

Drops

Totem Pokémon can drop several rare items after they are defeated. Many of those are unique and can't be obtained in any other way.
They are also the only source of Type Z-Crystals, having a chance to drop a Z-Crystal corresponding to their Type(s) on defeat.

Some specific Totems have also a chance to drop their respective Pokémon-unique Z-Crystals (i.e. Mew is the only Totem that can drop Mewnium Z).
